EAA: 10 Days Left For Businesses To Act

on June 18, 2025 at 6:31am |Updated on June 18, 2025 at 8:48pm European Accessibility Act, Only 10 Days Left, Enforcement date 28 June 2025, EU Logo, Access by Design logo

The EAA (European Accessibility Act) comes into force on 28 June 2025 — now just 10 working days away. Yet many businesses are still completely unaware that they fall under this legislation.

The Act applies to private sector businesses that trade with or serve customers in the European Union. This includes companies worldwide, not just those based in the EU. Failure to comply may result in legal action, financial penalties, and reputational damage.

Thousands of businesses are now dangerously exposed. The penalties will follow an enforcement model similar to GDPR, which has already shown just how significant these risks can be.

There is still time to act — but not much.

The first step is always the same: commission a full accessibility audit, carried out by qualified accessibility experts and disabled user testers. Automated scans alone are not sufficient. Proper testing is essential to identify barriers and work towards WCAG compliance.
